Jennifer Hathaway is an animator, director, and fine artist. Currently, she is working on CG animated projects which will bring awareness to two distinct issues. The first being addiction and its negative effect on a person’s pivotal relationships. The second, showcasing the negative effects on mental health brought about by narcissistic family relationships.
Her 2021 short film called ‘I’m Here’ focuses on the negative effects of bullying and it’s role on mental health. In 2019, Hathaway directed a collaborative stop-motion short film titled, ‘Descending Dreamscapes’ which discerns dreamscape psychology and contains multiple stop- motion mediums. She earned a B.F.A. in Animation from Ball State University in 2011, and a M.F.A. at Ball State University in 2020. In 2010 she was the recipient of the Ball State University Department of Art Scholarship.
Hathaway’s films have screened worldwide, showing in international festivals in Germany, The United Kingdom, Italy, and India. Her films have also screened in several locations in the U.S. including in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, and Indiana. Her film I’m Here has won several prestigious awards from festivals in India, Europe, and in the United States.
She has exhibited her fine artwork throughout the city of Muncie, Indiana including at Muncie Ballet, Madjax, David Owsley Museum of Art and the Artium Gallery. When not doing something creative, Hathaway enjoys working with her Golden Retrievers, enjoying theme parks, and hiking in an array of America’s National Parks. Hathaway is a Muncie, Indiana native and is a proud Midwesterner.
Growing up, I found emotional support from Disney Animated Films. These films became "90 Minute Vacations," emotional and mental respite from my experience with bullying and family chaos.
I am primarily a CG or 3D character animator. I also am skilled in stop motion animation, drawing, fine art, and traditional painting techniques. I am efficient in Maya, Mudbox, ToonBoom, Adobe Photoshop, AfterEffects, Premiere and Animate.
Most of my stories, animation, and fine art are influenced by my own life experiences. I enjoy hiking in Utah's Mighty Five, and I am an avid supporter of anti-bullying campaigns and canine rescue.
